Lucky Star X Haurhi

by HyperbolicHyperbally 6/25/2007 9:33:00 PM

Someone(s), with more time than even I have to waste; drew the characters from The Meloncholy of Haruhi Suzumiya into the opening to Lucky star. It is most enjoyable.

The Indian on Market Street

by HyperbolicHyperbally 6/21/2007 9:29:00 PM

Due to excellent weather I finally hiked the 300 yards or so to take a few pictures of the Carved Indian monument on Market Street in Akron.

Plaque at the Base

Rotayna (cheif)

Trail of the Whispering Giants
This statue honors all Native Americans of Ohio. Dedicated to chief Tecumseh of the Shawnee and chief Little Turtle of the Miami

I must admit that I had to look up Little Turtle, since I was unfamiliar with him. Not surprising, since people like Tecumseh tend to steel the limelight due to his Indian confederation. Who wants to read about someone who matured and became an advocate of peace?

2012 Olympics

by HyperbolicHyperbally 6/5/2007 9:25:00 PM

Todays Humor Brought to You by the 2012 London Olympic Logo!

As you can see it looks like some random scraps of construction paper pasted on by a drunken orangutan, however it seems that London paid something like 400,000 pounds for an ad agency to design it.

Lame Olympic Logo

Meanwhile the BBC ran a contest and found several better designs from the public for free. I personally like choice #5

Spiderman 3 - Attack of the return of the Sequal

by HyperbolicHyperbally 6/2/2007 9:20:00 PM

Spiderman returns for a third enjoyable time. I won't go into a detailed synopsis because you can likely find that elsewhere .  In general this movie brings to a conclusion many of the plot lines that had been started in the first movie.

The Good

Harry and Peter resolve their hatred and Peter finally can move past his uncles death. The two fights between Peter and Harry were very sweet. I also liked how Peter's dark self completely owned Harry, during their final confrontation. However I think it was really lame of Harry to blame Venom Spiderman for scaring him, when Harry was the one who originally threw the grenade that Spidy tossed back. I also found the montage Peter under the influence of Venom, abusing his powers, to be entertaining. We also had some entertaining fights with the three villains, Sandman, Venom and the Green Goblin 2.0.

The Bad

They tried to stick too much into the film, in fact it seems like it would have flowed a lot better if the sandman had been written out since his plot is very contrived and really takes away from the interaction between Harry, Pete and MJ. The resolution is of Sandman's plot is very random, first he helps Venon try to kill peter, but the next moment is willing to walk away. It really makes no logical sense what-so-ever.
